Photoshoot evaluation

This morning we will be saving our photos we took on Thursday. Once you have saved the pics YOU took you will be evaluating your first photo shoot.

  • What shots did you take?
  • Were there any problems?
  • Are there any shots that you will be able to use in your prelim task?
  • Highlight what uses - main cover image? Smaller inserted pics? Contents page?
  • Are you going to have to arrange more pics to be taken?
  • Is there anything you will need to do on your next photoshoot that you could not/did not do before?

ALSO, we need to be prepared for the resit on TV Drama/Games Industry - be aware of the upcoming reboot of Tomb Raider as in the next week it will be getting some publicity. I have placed an article in today's Metro on the AS videogames blog. By next week I want you to have read at least 3 articles (not Wikipedia) regarding the new Tomb Raider. There is a lot to talk about production, marketing and distribution as well as general audience and institution talk - you could argue that Lara Croft is an institution in herself! - and this game's release heralds a paradigm shift in audiences in gaming now that 40% of gamers are female - does this new version of Lara appeal any more to female gamers than the boobs 'n' bum with hip holsters version of the 1990s?

Once you have read at least 3 articles, compose a case study report on the new version of Tomb Raider - at the end of the case study please copy and paste the URL addresses of the articles you have used - mainstream news websites such as www.bbc.co.uk/news , www.guardian.co.uk , www.telegraph.co.uk but also gaming websites such as techradar, mashable, wired, mcv, cvg etc.

MONDAY'S TASKS
1. Use Publisher to create a mock up of your school/college magazine front cover.
Try not to avoid all of the design issues you found with the present examples
Go to moodle.deyeshigh.co.uk to view past examples of magazine covers. You can do better.
Before you can produce this:

you will need to create one of these - a mock up - this is to show you how all of your different ingredients will look on the page - this can save a lot of time messing about in Photoshop and InDesign if you take the time to plan beforehand.
Here is an A grade Media student shown to us at Inset day and their Preliminary task:
